The Scrolls of Ethiopia Project

The absorption of the new immigrants from Ethiopia is a challenging process. The immigrants are required to learn a new set of tools when they first come to the land of Israel, such as a totally new language, education and dealing with Israeli beauracracy. Preserving the connection with the cultural heritage and roots of the new immigrants are inseparable from the process of creating a healthy and growing personal identity in a new environment.

The goal of the Scrolls of Ethiopia project is enabling the immigrants to tell about the process of their Allyia: about the life they left behid in Ethiopia, the journey  to Israel and their adaptment to the life in the State of Israel. The stories will be written down, edited a bit and be published. All the revenue from the selling of the books will be put to promote activites in the Kalisher Community Garden.
